Administration Computer Systems, Inc. Beginning in 1983, we designed and programmed the Claimex™ system for third party health insurance management. By 1998 the system comprised some 600,000 lines of code and was used by half a dozen insurance companies across the Midwest. Claimex™ adjudicates claims, bills insureds, pays healthcare providers either electronically or with laser-written checks, maintains deductible and payout limit histories, manages tax withholding, maintains HMOs and PPOs and performs virtually all functions required for administering self-insurance. In 1999 the company was sold to Weyco, Inc., and we undertook conversion of the entire system to an Oracle database serving upwards of 200 workstations. Richmond Transportation , Inc. Bannockburn, IL. 1986 - 2000 Designed a complete intermodal transportation management system for shipping by truck, rail or ship. Functions included multi-leg routing, payments to drivers, railroads and shipping companies, collections from shippers, EDI transfers of invoices and continual shipment tracking. Methodist Hospital of Chicago Chicago , IL. 1988 - 2001 Took over the medical records computer function from a service bureau and rewrote the software to make it more user-friendly. Provided dial-up service for workstation access to the data. Midland Products, Inc. Tinley Park, IL. 1985 - present Designed a complete chemical manufacturing management system. First written in FORTRAN, we later converted the system to the C language under Unix. Functions include order entry, formula management, raw material and finished goods inventory, batch manufacturing instructions, bills of lading with hazardous material warnings, shipping, invoicing, scheduled raw material purchasing, and integration with A/P, A/R and general ledger. Health Plan Administrators, Inc. Rockford , IL. 1988 - present Designed a large short-term medical and dental insurance billing system. Functions include agent commissions; policy billing via invoice, credit card, direct withdrawal or barcoded payment coupons; financial reporting; agency hierarchies; letter writing; laser check printing; A/P; A/R. The system was also interfaced with the Claimex™ claims paying system (see Plan Administration Computer Services above). In 2004 we completely rewrote the billing system as a Windows-based application powered by the Oracle database and interfaced with the new Oracle version of Claimex™ . Gibraltar Financial Corporation Northbrook , IL. 1990 - present Designed a comprehensive factoring and revolving credit system to manage loans against purchased invoices. Functions include advance payments; payment receipt; full reporting; general ledger; laser check printing; simple factoring or revolving credit (asset-based) options; late payment followup; client and debtor maintenance; direct faxing and emailing; extensive notes; rapid account query. The system has been recently upgraded to run on Windows-based workstations served by an Oracle database on the Linux platform. In 2004 we constructed a customer-access website using the Apache webserver and PHP code to interface with the Oracle database.
